Welcome!
We are Fuzz & Fur Farm, LLC - Alpacas of Indiana.

to Raise the Perfect Alpaca for You and Your Family!"
So who are we?
Denyel Bond - Herd Manager - Website Designer
Kate Bond - Barn Manager - The "muscles"
Patty Hulse - Original Financial Backer - Official ooher and ahher of baby pacas! - Grandma
Dekaylee Bond - Our first "two-legged" baby - Born October 29, 2009 - she has stolen our hearts and will probably "run" the farm by the time she's 3!
We began our alpaca journey in 2007. We began researching alpacas after seeing an internet ad for a "retirement oppurtunity." I mentioned it to Mom (Patty) as something that might be good for us and she started some of her own research. I am all about getting as much information as possible before i do anything! We went and visited a few local farms and then in August of 2007 Patty found an ad for a farm close to us that was retiring from alpacas due to health reasons. We were still learning about alpacas but fell in love with them and knew this is what we wanted to do. After some discussions and financial fanagaling and even though we had planned to start with boys (a good idea) we ended up with 1 female and 2 male Huacaya Alpacas. After our purchase we boarded them with that farm until December 2007. We bought a fixer-upper two-horse trailer, and fixed it up in prepartion for bringing our animals home. And we bought a non-breeder Suri female to be a "friend" to our other girl we weren't originally planning on buying.
Our plans for bringing them home changed dramatically as we found out that we could not build on the land that we had planned to put our house and barn. So, we had 3 alpacas and had to figure out where to house them. We visited the AAA (Autumn Alpaca Affair) and met some wonderful local breeders. When deciding on a boarding farm, we thought back to the people we talked with at that event and decided to contact the Crick's from Crick's Alpaca Farm. We visited their farm and immediately decided we liked them and wanted our animals to be there, a few weeks later we brought our pacas "home".
That December our 2 1/2 hour trip down to get the pacas, took us 6 hours to get home due to an ice storm that we were not expecting. So our first few hours of feeling like these animals were really ours and we were terrified that we were going to "break" them before we got to the Crick's! Lisa & Kevin have been awesome right from the beginning. We got the animals settled in the barn and they brought us into the house for hot chocolate and a nice warm dinner! We have had our herd with them since and think of them as part of our family.
We bought our original Suri girl from KFF (Koopman Family Farm). Emi & Bill have also been amazing in our alpaca journey. Unfortunately our Suri died unexpectedly, several months after purchase, but before we were able to bring her "home." They helped us get through that time, that every farm must face eventually. Since then two Suri females and a young Suri male have come to join the rest of our herd at our new boarding farm, Micheal Century Farm, where we began boarding our enitre herd in December 2009.
We have learned so much from these two farms and we are still learning constantly ! We thought we were ready to bring our animals home, but boy, are we glad we've boarded them as we didn't know nearly as much as we thought!
We have learned about shots, meds, feed, cria birthing, and how to shear (though Lisa is much better at it than me!), as well as have helped two years in a row with the Indiana Alpaca Invitational (as Emi's assistant during the show!).
Our goals for the future include having our own place, where our kids (grandkids) can grow up learning to respect and value animals as we raise the perfect alpaca for you and your family!
Thanks For Reading!
Sincerely,
Denyel, Kate, Patty & Dekaylee
